Commission – Dog Brooch

A longstanding customer/collector wanted a brooch in the form of a treasured pet, so she could carry a reminder of him close to her heart.

Hand engraved, carefully cut and polished, the final piece is an accurate facsimile capturing the animal’s poise and grace in sterling silver. Suitable for casual or semi-formal wear, a unique piece with real sentimental as well as material value.

One of the great advantages of having Nicole’s bench set up in DesignYard in Donnybrook is that customers can follow the process from beginning to end. And you can too.

Back at my bench I first pierced the dog from a sheet of silver, meticulously checking the contours against the agreed sketch.

Next step was to finish the edges and solder the brooch fittings in place. Once the brooch was assembled, it was prepped for polishing.

Finally Pooch was brought to life with a few hand-engraved details. Simple but effective!
